
The weekend is all about the Erie Canal - join us and you'll rediscover our history, learn about our wildlife, experience an adventure, enjoy first class music and dance, and have a chance to celebrate our canal heritage with fireworks and a boat parade!.
See the Purina Dog Chow Frisbee Champions at Maalwyck Park in Glenville or enjoy the children's activities at the Historical Society in the Stockade Historic District, take a wagon ride at Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site in Fort Hunter and follow it up by attending a performance of Elvis Live!! RiverLink Park in Amsterdam will host the Schenectady Symphony, the NYS Canal Corporation's Tugboat Urger and boat rides. Freedom Park will feature top-flight entertainment as well as a water-ski show and boat parade. The Mabee Farm will host a music festival and have colonial artisan demonstrations.
History buffs will love touring historic sites, including New York State’s Historic Schoharie Crossing Aqueduct, Schenectady’s Aqueduct, or the Mabee Farm Historic Site - a three hundred year old farm located on the Erie Canal. Historic tours will also be available at the Schenectady Yacht Club.
Join us for sporting activities throughout the weekend, including Sky Diving performances, a US Water Ski Show Team performance, rock climbing, camping and boater displays, animal agility and frisbee demonstrations, and more!
Canalfest is not just for adults! Children’s activities abound! Kids can enjoy colonial games, story telling, face painting, pony rides, musical performances, and hot-air balloon demonstrations
There’ll be plenty of things to do, see, and buy as you visit a craft show, historic site gift shops, photography show, and artisan demonstrations.
